It didn’t quite offer up the excitement of last weekend, but week 11 in the NFL was very entertaining as six games were decided by a single score and several went right down to the wire. It was your typical NFL weekend with outstanding plays, the occasional upset, some key injuries, a record low for kickers across the league and enough intriguing results and headlines to keep us on the edge of our seats. These are just half a dozen key storylines that caught my eye on Sunday night. Cowboys look SuperThe Dallas Cowboys took the Baltimore Ravens best punches and kept on rolling, all the way to a 27-17 win that gave them their club record ninth consecutive victory. Baltimore came in with the NFLs top defence and the Cowboys were undeterred, racking up 417 yards of total offence. Ezekiel Elliott hurdles a Viking... Baltimore made it their mission to shut down Ezekiel Elliott and did a pretty good job of that in a first half in which the teams were tied at 10 apiece. But you can only contain Elliott for so long and he started to get more involved in the second half.Dak Prescott was outstanding as he threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns. He put the team on his back and delivered time and again, looking every inch the composed veteran quarterback. And more good news for the Cowboys is the fact that wide receiver Dez Bryant (six catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns) looks to be inching back to his best. Watch this poor sound guy get destroyed by the Minnesota Vikings! There is a long way to go and plenty of football still to be played, but these Cowboys have the look of a Super Bowl team. They can ride out adversity and continue to produce week in and week out - and that is a confidence thing as much as it is a physical component. The Lions roarDont look now but here come the Detroit Lions looking to win their first NFC North division title since the days when the division went by a completely different name! The last time the Lions won their division it was the NFC Central in 1991, but they are on track after winning five of their last six.The 6-4 Lions enjoyed another typical day at the office in their 26-19 win over Jacksonville - it marked their 10th game this season decided by seven points or fewer. The only difference was that this win came without a touchdown pass from in-form quarterback Matthew Stafford. Wide receiver Andre Roberts scored a 55-yard punt return for the Detroit Lions Detroit scored on a tight end sweep from Eric Ebron, a 55-yard punt return from Andre Roberts and a pick six from Rafael Bush. That shows they can dig deep and win even when their star man does not have his best day at the office.Goff dream turns into nightmareIt never looked close to perfect from Jared Goff on Sunday night as the first overall pick in the 2016 Draft made his debut at quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams. But it looked more than good enough as the Rams led 10-0 with just over four minutes remaining. But Goff didnt turn out to be the story of this game. That honour goes to an under-fire Ryan Tannehill, who was beaten up behind a make-shift offensive line missing Branden Albert and Mike Pouncey. Highlights of the Miami Dolphins win over the Los Angeles Rams in week 11 of the NFL But Tannehill has renewed belief under the leadership of quarterback-whispering head coach Adam Gase and with some late self-destruction from the Rams in terms of penalties and blown assignments, he led Miami to a fifth straight win with touchdown passes to Jarvis Landry and the impressive DeVante Parker. This may be a bit too simplistic but Ill say it anyway - Miami dont win that game under Joe Philbin, who was fired last year. Gase has lit a fire under this team and Tannehill delivered in a big way with the game on the line. And Goff? It was a definite mixed bag and there were a lot of times when he looked like a fresh-faced rookie - but he also showed enough to make me believe the Rams made the right decision with this move.Wilson back to full fitnessThe Seattle Seahawks looked in control from start to finish during their 26-15 win over Philadelphia and I think they present the biggest challenge to the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC run to the Super Bowl. Highlights of the Seattle Seahawks 26-15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles Every NFL game is filled with big moments but one single play would give me great hope for the future if Im a Seahawks fan - Doug Baldwins 15-yard touchdown pass to quarterback Russell Wilson. There is no way the Seahawks run that play and send Wilson sprinting downfield to catch a pass from his wide receiver without him being fully healthy. And he does look back to his very best after early season ankle, knee and pectoral injuries. Russell Wilson hands the ball off and then receives the ball for a TD! That is good news for the Seahawks and great news for all neutrals who love watching Wilson shine as a passer, a runner and now a receiver. The missing menThe Cincinnati Bengals are having a bad year and, while there are many reasons, not many are greater than the list I am about to give you.The Bengals lost 16-12 to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and it looks like they lost wide receiver A.J. Green and running back Giovani Bernard for the remainder of the year with hamstring and knee injuries, respectively. Highlights of the Buffalo Bills win over the Detroit Lions in week 11 of the NFL. Add those to tight end Tyler Eifert, who missed the first half of the season through injury, and free agent departing wide receivers Marvin Jones (Detroit) and Mohamed Sanu (Atlanta). For the cherry on top of the cake, throw in offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, who left to become head coach of the Cleveland Browns and you get a clear picture of why the Bengals have just three wins to their name - that is too much offensive talent to lose in one lump sum and survive intact.Cousins inches towards long-term dealWashington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins gambled on himself in the off-season as he inked a one-year franchise tag deal with his NFC East club. And it looks like he is going to parlay that into a lucrative long-term contract as Washington are rolling at 6-3-1 following their Sunday night mauling of Green Bay.In high and swirling winds, Cousins did a masterful job of spreading the ball around and picked on the Packers much-maligned defensive backs to the tune of 375 yards and three touchdowns. Highlights from the Washington Redskins victory over the Green Bay Packers His opposite number - Aaron Rodgers - didnt do too much wrong with 351 yards and three scores of his own, but he got very little help from his defence and the Packers, for so long one of the serious contenders in the NFL, have now lost four straight to drop to 4-6 on the year. Finally on Cousins, I maintain that he is one of the growing quarterbacks in the NFL who we should keep an eye on. I think he is a fantastic player and a great leader in the locker room. Oh, and he will get rich in the coming off-season!Upgrade to Sky Sports now and get 12 months half price. Moving up, from 10 to seven this week, the Pittsburgh Penguins have won seven straight despite a depleted lineup.(SportsNetwork.com) - A pair of 7-4 teams aiming for a third straight victory clash this Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium, where the Baltimore Ravens play host to the San Diego Chargers. Both the Ravens and Chargers have used their back-to-back wins to stay in the hunt in tight division races. Baltimore is tied for second in the AFC North with Pittsburgh and Cleveland as all three clubs trail 7-3-1 Cincinnati, while San Diego is even with Kansas City in the AFC West and a game back of 8-3 Denver. The Ravens will have one fewer day of rest as they were in action last Monday night and knocked off the New Orleans Saints 34-27 behind running back Justin Forsetts career-high 182 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. Joe Flacco threw for 243 yards and a touchdown, which was caught by wide receiver Steve Smith among his four receptions for 89 yards. Safety Will Hill had an interception he returned 44 yards for a touchdown, while linebacker Elvis Dumervil had two of the clubs four sacks. That was a really special win, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh said. You are going to have to win a lot of games to make the playoffs in our conference. The Ravens were coming off a bye after having bested Tennessee 21-7 on Nov. 9, while the Chargers dropped three in a row heading into their bye in Week 10. They have since come out with wins over Oakland and St. Louis, topping the Rams in thrilling fashion 27-24 this past Sunday. Quarterback Philip Rivers put the Chargers up by 10 on a 29-yard touchdown pass to wideout Keenan Allen with 8:09 to play, but the Rams came back with a touchdown with 2:04 to go and then moved into position for a game-tying field goal try with a little over a minute to play. However, while trying for a go-ahead score, St. Louis quarterback Shaun Hill was picked off by San Diego safety Marcus Gilchrist just inside the end zone to secure the win. The Chargers defense held Hill to 198 passing yards and recorded two interceptions, while linebacker Andrew Gachkar picked up a fumble caused by defensive tackle Corey Liugets sack and took it 13 yards for a score in the third quarter. They came up big the whole game, Rivers said about his defense. We had some turnovers and some things and we put them in some tough spots. They were awesome. Rivers was 29-of-35 for 291 yards with one touchdown pass while also having an interception returned 99 yards for a score. Allen ended with six catches for 104 yards and running back Ryan Mathews had 105 yards rushing and a score on 12 carries. The Ravens lead the all-time series with the Chargers 5-4, with seven of those nine games taking place in San Diego. The Chargers have lost both of their trips to Baltimore. This game marks the first meeting between the clubs at M&T Stadium since 2006. WHAT TO WATCH FOR The Ravens have been getting solid production from their ground game all season long, but the Chargers big game from their running was a pleasant surprise for a club that ranks 27th on the ground (89.5 yards per game) this season. The 27-year-old Mathews appeared in his second game after missing seven in a row with a knee injury and has posted 175 yards rushing since his return. He averaged a career-besst 8.dddddddddddd.8 yards per carry last game and his 32-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was the longest scoring carry of his career. You never really know how much you miss a guy until he gets back and gets rolling like he did today, because some of those runs today are why he was drafted where he was, and why he is such a big impact player for us. You need a home run sometimes, said Rivers. Forsett has been knocking them out of the park all season as his 5.83 rushing average leads all running backs and he sits third in the NFL with 903 yards on the ground. Forsett is one of only three players in the NFL this season to have at least 65 total yards in every game this season, joining Dallas DeMarco Murray and Antonio Brown of Pittsburgh. The return of Mathews should help Rivers, who failed to throw at least two touchdown passes for only the third time in 10 games this season last weekend. In his past four games versus the Ravens, Rivers has thrown for 1,183 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions. Flacco has struggled a bit more in this series, getting picked off three times to five touchdown passes and 771 yards in three games, though he passed for 355 yards in the most recent meeting. That came on Nov. 25, 2012, a 16-13 overtime victory. Flacco will look to challenge a Chargers defense that is ninth in the NFL with 330.1 yards allowed per game and sixth in scoring defense at 19.6 points per game. San Diego has yielded 10 points or fewer three times this season and hasnt done so in four games since 2007. However, the Chargers have yielded at least 23 points in five of their last six. The Ravens rank fifth against the run and though they are giving up 264.6 yards per game through the air, 24 of their 29 sacks this season have come in the past six games. Linebackers Dumervil and Terrell Suggs are leading the charge. Dumervil has 12 1/2 sacks this season, tied for the second most in the NFL and just three shy of a new franchise single-season record. Suggs, meanwhile, has six sacks and has 100 1/2 in his career. Not only will Rivers have to avoid that duo, but hell have a rookie starter under center in Chris Watt. The third-round selection is expected to take the role after San Diego placed its third center on injured reserve this season. Rich Ohrnberger became the latest to have his season end due to a back injury. San Diego lost center Nick Hardwick after Week 1 due to a knee injury and Doug Legursky went down after Week 5 with a knee ailment. OVERALL ANALYSIS The Chargers and Ravens right in the thick of the chase for their respective division crowns and come into this meeting red hot. Baltimore has the luxury of playing at home and with a defense that can get to the quarterback. That will make Mathews a key element as hell need to move the ball to keep the Ravens linebackers honest and Baltimore has had trouble defending quarterbacks who have time to throw. Rivers has had some solid efforts against the Ravens, but working with a rookie center against a talented defense isnt an ideal situation and it is something Baltimore may be able to exploit.
